About VeriAdvisor

VeriAdvisor is a free legal information site for people in the United States. It is aimed at renters, employees and consumers who have a specific problem, such as a deposit that was not returned, wages that were not paid or a refund that was refused, and want to understand the rules before deciding what to do.

What is on the site

  • Calculators and checklists that work out deadlines, amounts and penalties under a named statute, for example the date a landlord must return a deposit in your state or the overtime owed for a pay period.
  • Letter templates for demand letters and notices, with the statute cited so the other side can check it.
  • Guides that explain a topic from start to finish: the federal baseline, how several large states differ, and practical next steps.
  • An AI Legal Workspace where you can describe a situation in your own words and get a plain-English reading of the rules that may apply.

How the content is written

Each calculator and guide is written from the statute or regulation itself and from official government sources such as state legislatures, the US Department of Labor, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission and state court self-help centres. The source is linked on the page so you can read the rule yourself. Worked examples use invented figures and show the arithmetic.

We are not lawyers and the pages are not reviewed by a lawyer for your situation. Laws change, court rules add steps, and local ordinances can override state law, so treat every result as a starting point and check the current official text. When a figure could not be confirmed from an official source, the page says so.

What VeriAdvisor is not

VeriAdvisor is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or representation. Using the site does not create an attorney-client relationship. If you have a deadline, a court date or a significant amount at stake, talk to a licensed attorney. Many areas have free legal aid; you can find yours through the Legal Services Corporation or your state bar's lawyer referral service.

How the site is funded

The calculators and guides are free. The site is supported by advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertisers do not choose or review content, and no page is paid placement. See the privacy policy for how advertising cookies work.

Corrections and contact

If a rule has changed or you find a mistake, email huhuwen09@gmail.com with the page address and, if you can, the source that shows the correct rule. We check every report and update the page when the correction is confirmed. We cannot answer questions about individual legal situations.
